JIMI HENDRIX Flying V Guitar Auction To Benefit HOPE Project
March 29, 2007Gina Alexander Inc. — creators of world-famous "Photo Handbags" popular with a huge celebrity following, including Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz and Faith Hill — will sponsor a benefit dinner on Wednesday, April 11 in support of HOPE worldwide to benefit the organization's work at its center for abused children in Laguna, Philippines. A prototype of Gibson Guitars' Jimi Hendrix Flying V, from the company's "Inspired By" series, is expected to be a centerpiece of the event to be attended by numerous personalities from the worlds of film, television and music.
Gibson crafted a limited run of 300 (since sold out) of these iconic, hand-painted, instruments, modeled on the one that Jimi Hendrix painted and played. The Flying V to be auctioned at the Gina Alexander Philanthropy Project event is the fifth of six prototypes created before the production run of 300 were built. The guitar is estimated to be worth upwards of $15,000. Bidders need not attend the dinner to participate; the charity section of eBay, accessible starting April 2 at this location will offer the guitar to online bidders.
Janie Hendrix, CEO and President of Experience Hendrix, LLC will attend the dinner, to take place at Roy's, 800 S. Figueroa St., in Los Angeles. She will provide a certificate of authenticity and sign the instrument for the highest bidder.
